Print terms explained
- 4/0
- Full color (the four CMYK inks) on the front and nothing on the back: one-sided printing.
- 4/4
- Full color on both the front and the back: two-sided printing.
- C2S
- Coated two sides: paper with a smooth coating on both faces, which keeps colors crisp. Uncoated paper is easier to write on.
- Bleed
- Background color or images that extend past the trim line (0.125 in on each edge for most flat products), so nothing white shows at the edge after cutting.
- Safe area
- The zone inside the trim line (0.125 in for most flat products) where text and logos must stay so cutting never clips them.
- Coating
- A clear layer over the ink that protects it and changes its look: gloss adds shine, matte reduces glare, and UV coatings are hardened with ultraviolet light.
